BEGINNING WOODWORKING ~ Garden Table with Tile Top

Your woodworking experience begins here! Whether you are just starting or are an experienced woodworker, you will enjoy this class. Let Jim Vice teach you the fundamentals of precision woodworking or help refresh skills you may have learned years ago. You will learn to properly use both machine and hand tools including sanders, drills, router, jointer, doweling jig and basic machine setups. Skills you learn can be applied in both the workplace and at home. Each student will apply these skills while making a garden table with tile top. Emphasis will be on safety. Students will need safety glasses, ear plugs, a dust mask, and a #2 pencil. A materials fee of $40 is payable to instructor on first night of class. Students will need to provide their own tile pieces later in the course. 10 classes

INTERMEDIATE WOODWORKING- Octagon Table

This class is for anyone who has completed Jim Vice’s Beginning Woodworking Course. The project will be a beautiful Octagon Table with an S curve inlayed top and a parquet lower shelf. The goal of the class will be to teach advanced uses of table saw and router table including pattern cutting. Lessons taught will focus on advanced skills such as cutting out table legs using a bandsaw. The spindle sander, drill press, and an assortment of hand tools will be used as well. There will be a materials fee that includes all wood and hardware. Students are required to bring safety glasses, a dust mask, and a #2 pencil. A materials fee of $75.00 is payable to the instructor on the first night of class. 10 classes

ADVANCED WOODWORKING JIGS and FIXTURES

Take your woodworking to the next level! Everyone in this class will be making a beautiful hope chest that can be used in storing blankets, toys, or personal memorabilia. This exquisite project will feature flat panels with rails & styles and a piano hinge with lid closer. For an additional charge, your chest can be lined with cedar. This will be more than just a woodworking project, it will become an admired piece for your home. Students must have access to their own tools at home because there will be homework. Students must have taken at lease two woodworking classes taught by Jim Vice prior to attendance. This project will require two 10 week sessions to complete. Part II will be taught in the Winter Quarter. Students are required to bring safety glasses, earplugs, a dust mask, and a #2 pencil. A materials fee of $120.00, extra if you want cedar, is payable to the instructor on the first night of class. 10 classes
