Your woodworking experience begins here! Whether you are just starting or are an experienced woodworker, you will enjoy this class. Let Jim Vice teach you the fundamentals of precision woodworking or help refresh skills you may have learned years ago. You will learn to properly use both machine and hand tools including sanders, drills, router, jointer, doweling jig and basic machine setups. Skills you learn can be applied in both the workplace and at home. Each student will apply these skills while making a garden table with tile top. Emphasis will be on safety. Students will need safety glasses, ear plugs, adust mask, and a #2 pencil. A materials fee of $40 is payable to instructor on first night of class. Students will need to provide their own tile pieces later in the course. 10 classes

This class is for people who have successfully completed a beginning woodworking class taught by Jim Vice. The project will be a beautiful octagon table with an S curve inlaid top and a parquet lower shelf. The goal of the class will be to teach advanced uses of a table saw and router table including pattern cutting. Lessons taught will focus on advanced skills such as, cutting out table legs using a band saw. The spindle sander, drill press and an assortment of hand tools will be used as well. The material fee is $75.00 payable to the teacher the first night of class. Students are required to bring safety glasses, a dust mask, hearing protection, and a #2 pencil. 12 classes

This is an advanced class for those students that have completed Jim’s intermediate class. In this advanced class you will make a beautiful table that can be an end table, occasional table, or night stand. This class is for those students that would like to build one table. This class will be 15 weeks long. The student will have a choice of three woods: Red Oak, White Oak, Ash or a combination of any two. The material fee will be $130.00 per table. This will include all wood and soft closing drawer rails. Emphasis will be on safety and advanced use of a table saw, router, and assorted hand tools.Students are required to bring safety glasses, earplugs, a dust mask, and a #2 pencil. 15 classes
