Superintendent’s Message
Spring is the season of rebirth. One form of personal rebirth is learning something new or continuing one’s journey along the everchanging path of lifelong learning. In the 21st century, lifelong learning is a necessity. The world has changed dramatically since I started school over a half century ago. Computers? Internet? Facebook? Twitter? I was lucky to have a black-and-white television set with three channels, but my parents instilled in me a passion for learning that continues today.
If you are reading this brochure, you are already a traveler on the lifelong learning path. You just need to answer the question, “How much further do I want to go right now?” Whatever you answer, Castro Valley Adult and Career Education can offer you a wide range of courses to expand your personal horizons or pursue your personal interest or passion. In this economy, many of you are looking to develop new skill sets to change careers. Whatever your goal, there is a course for you.
Every level of California education is being challenged to survive the state budget crisis. Watch the news or read a newspaper and you know that adult education programs are facing the same fiscal challenges as K-12 schools. The Castro Valley Unified School District is committed to providing a high-quality adult education program to those who have chosen to be lifelong learners. The program may look different, but there will be an adult education program.
So, take advantage of a great community resource and sign up for an adult education class this quarter.
Sincerely,
Jim Negri, Superintendent
