Powerless to Empowered: Practical Behavioral Strategies for Families to Support Students During Distance Learning

Instructor: Kasey Kaufman & Janet Sinhbandith

This 4-part series of online workshops will explore evidence based practices that give caregivers the tools they need to manage the stress and needs that have arisen during the current global pandemic. Parents and caregivers will learn concrete behavioral strategies that cover (1) using schedules and routines, (2) re-establishing family norms in distance learning, (3) positive parenting, and (4) proactive teaching of social emotional skills.  This series will have useful tools for all age ranges.

Behavior Specialist

Kasey Kaufman is a Behavior Specialist who joined CVSD this year. Kasey has been working education for 8 years supporting educators, students, and families from K-12. Kasey holds a MA in Special Education from SFSU and is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Kasey’s work is grounded in principles of empathy, accessibility, and equity.

Janet Sinhbandith
Elementary District Behavior Specialist
Janet Sinhbandith is the Elementary District Behavior Specialist as well as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). She has been in the field of Behavior Analysis for over 14 years. Janet strives to deliver high quality and evidence-based practices into the classrooms. Janet is also a Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Certified Instructor on non-violent crisis intervention training and serves the elementary schools in CVUSD
