Yang and Yin are the patterns of our life, and in nature all patterns are formed by opposite and complementary principles: hot and cold, active and passive, matter and energy, female and male, summer and winter, etc. A Yang/Yin class balances these contrasts in our physical and energetic body.
We will practice traditional Yang Yoga for the first half of the class: dynamic postures and conscious breathing allow the body to warm up, strengthen, and energize. We will continue with Yin Yoga for the second half to complete our practice: our deeper “yin,” connective tissues, ligaments, joints, and bones will be stressed when holding long postures to achieve lubrication, optimal health, and vitality. Some yoga experience needed, as the “yang” portion of the class requires some strength and familiarity with the poses.
Please bring your own yoga mat.
