Bicycle Maintenance - Love Your Bike So It Will Love you!

Instructor: Lawrence

That bicycle in your garage is calling you, “Come get me, let’s ride!” But first, that bike needs a little help to get ready. Nobody wants to be stuck on the side of the road helpless with a flat tire, useless brakes or gears grinding obnoxiously!

Join long-time Castro Valley educator, Kirk Lawrence and learn the basics of bicycle maintenance. We will cover these topics:

  • Changing your tire and flat repair
  • Cleaning the chain and lubrication
  • Adjusting brakes
  • Adjusting your derailleurs
  • Minor wheel truing

Bring your bike and your helmet and enjoy two Saturday mornings geared to get you and your bike back on the road! Please bring metric open end wrenches, metric allen wrenches, pliers, tire pump and rags if you have them.

Instructor Bio: Kirk Lawrence is an avid bicyclist who enjoys road and mountain biking. From paperboy to cross-country bike tours, he has seen his share of maintenance issues. Kirk is a well-loved, retired 31-year Canyon Middle School science teacher and Castro Valley resident.
