An introduction to the historical and socio-cultural experiences of racial and ethnic groups in the United States. Focus will be on key issues such as immigration, political stratification, employment discrimination, Americanization, class, racial and ethnic identity, and gender roles that have shaped relations in American society. Study is inter- and multi-disciplinary. A comparative approach covering African American, Mexican American, Asian American, Native American and Middle Eastern American.  (3.00 units)

  • Successfully complete this course
  • Pass a state exam (30 multiple-choice questions)
