Learn lead sheet playing on the piano or keyboard in this beginning level class. We will focus on style and performance technique covering chord symbols, bass line, and melody. Each class begins with a brief theory lesson and is followed by lab time with individual help from the instructor.
This class is for adults who are proficient in sight reading and enjoy playing the big band sounds of the 1930s and '40s. The musical library of over 300 arrangements are for two Alto, two Tenor, and Baritone Saxophones, four Trumpets, four Trombones, Piano, String Bass, Guitar and Drums. Altos and Tenors who double on Clarinet or Flute are a plus. Vocalists are also welcome to try out. The band will perform two concerts per year. Interested musicians must make an appointment with the director through the Adult School for an interview and/or audition before enrolling.
Come play great music! The Orchestra will perform three concerts during the year, provide outreach to enthuse students in music, and build community support for the performing arts. If you are an intermediate to advanced player, the Orchestra will be a fulfilling musical experience and a fun way to bring great music to the community.
If you love music and play an instrument, come join the Community Band! This traditional concert band performs at least four concerts per year, and is the featured band for the Annual Rowell Ranch Parade (we are seated, not marching!). The band performs classical music as well as marches, show tunes and pops.
