For Winter Semester we will examine the myriad of environmental stresses birds are (or are not) adapted to, esp. hot to cold. We will also take a look at some of the developments in Bird Art – from: "caves, tombs, and lithographs" - "fowls, owls, and parrots" - and "Gould, Lear, Audubon, Jackon, Adamson, and Peeters," - and to Art in our Field Guides. Migratory birds groups will be emphasized in the examples selected and the Field Trips chosen; e.g., tube-noses, alcids, raptors, thrushes, sparrows.
Field Trips may not only be in the East Bay, but also include the greater Bay Area (then Double Length Sessions will have extended time, e.g., 8:15am - 12:15pm or 10:15am - 2:15pm). Destinations and Directions will be announced prior to outings.
